Air Guitar, Conga Lines, and one amazing Cookie Table: An Unforgettable Night with Jen & Blaine at the Omni William Penn Hotel

Some weddings play it safe. Jen and Blaine’s was not that wedding. From the moment I met with them, I knew we were in for something special, and this spring day at the Omni William Penn Hotel delivered in every possible way. Their guests showed up ready to celebrate, and honestly, they came to party all night long. The energy in that room was infectious from start to finish, the kind of night where you glance at the clock and can’t believe how fast the hours went.

We started the evening in the Urban Room for cocktails, which has these grand architectural bones that gave the whole space a 1920s supper club feel. I had warm candlelight uplighting going throughout, and it really leaned into that Great Gatsby atmosphere. From there, everyone moved into the Grand Ballroom, which is just one of those rooms that earns its reputation. The centerpieces were gorgeous, the cookie table was enormous (as it should be in Pittsburgh), and there was a cat-themed cake topper that made me smile every time I walked past it.

Jen and Blaine set the tone for the whole night right at the grand entrance. Blaine came in absolutely shredding air guitar, and Jen had the entire room going with her “Where Is My Husband!” moment, which is exactly the kind of entrance that gets people out of their chairs before dinner even starts. Throughout the night, the crowd joined in “Ein Prosit” chants, which tells you everything you need to know about how loose and celebratory the whole room felt.

As for the music, the cocktail hour was all 1920s and big band jazz, which fit the Urban Room perfectly. Dinner kept a similar feel, warm and sophisticated, with jazz standards and classic pop filling the ballroom. Then the dancing started, and the whole thing shifted. The playlist moved through 80s pop, disco, classic R&B, and rock, and the crowd went with it every step of the way. At one point, a conga line formed and just kept going, snaking around that big dance floor with people jumping in from every direction. Newer hits got just as much love as the classics. It was one of those floors where you couldn’t tell who was having more fun.

Jen and Blaine put real thought into this night. Every special moment, every song choice, every detail reflected who they are as a couple. It was such a pleasure to help them bring their vision to life. Congatulations to the happy couple!
