University Club

Holly and Morgan’s wedding was a celebration of love, family, and togetherness. As the couple exchanged vows at the breathtaking University Club in Pittsburgh, PA, surrounded by their closest friends and family, it was clear that this was a special day for everyone in attendance.

The University Club was the perfect venue for both the ceremony and reception, with its stunning surroundings providing the perfect backdrop for the evening’s festivities. As the night unfolded, guests were treated to an evening of music, delicious food, and wild dancing (including the limbo!). Holly and Morgan’s family hit the dance floor with gusto, showing off their moves to a range of wedding classics, 80s rock hits, and sing-along favorites.

Throughout the evening, Holly and Morgan made it clear how much their friends and family meant to them. From the heartfelt speeches to the special dances, it was clear that family was at the heart of this celebration. It was heartwarming to see the newlyweds surrounded by their loved ones, basking in the love and happiness of their big day.

I was honored to be a part of Holly and Morgan’s special day, and the joy on everyone’s faces as they sang, danced, and celebrated was truly infectious. The happy couple will soon set off on their well-deserved honeymoon in the Caribbean, ready to start their next adventure together.

The thing I love most about being exclusively a wedding DJ is how every event is entirely customized to each couple.  Sometimes I work with people who request a large amount of music up front, and then my job is determine how to best make it all work for their guests.  In other cases I get to work with a couple like Laura and Greg who made a few specific choices, but gave me the freedom to best determine what would make their friends and family have the most fun.

I can’t imagine there was a better place to hold their celebration than the beautiful University Club ballroom.  There was plenty of space for visiting, dining and a fabulous dance party!

This past weekend I was the DJ for Megan Warco and Ed Moran at the University Club in Pittsburgh, PA.  Many couples could learn a lot from how Meg and Ed planned their reception.  They wanted a celebration that was elegant and simple.  They chose not to include a lot of the traditional elements, and instead focused on a relaxing evening that gave them the opportunity to truly enjoy this special time with their friends and family.

Megan and Ed chose to forgo a grand entrance into the ballroom and instead followed their guests to their seats after the cocktail hour.  Instead of a banquet style head table, they chose to sit with their bridal party in a more comfortable and enjoyable setting.

As for music, the newlyweds chose dinner music that I’m convinced they’d play if you visited their home for a meal.  Great selections from the Decemberists, Coldplay, the Eagles, and more created a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

The couple held their first dance between dinner courses, which really helped keep the evening moving along.

Megan and her father worked out a very special dance for after dinner.  They had a great time and performed their choreography perfectly!

With all the festivities concluded, there was nothing left to do but celebrate and enjoy some time on the dance floor.

I find it’s extremely difficult for people to let go of certain wedding traditions, even if they don’t feel like those elements reflect their personal style.  Megan and Ed had a fantastic evening where they spent their time only doing what they knew they would enjoy.  Now they are all ready for more a well deserved rest on their Hawaiian honeymoon.

Weddings are complicated!  There are so many details to plan and decisions to make.  Seems like lately a lot of people have found a way to make to make their day a little simpler by having their ceremony and reception at the same venue.  This makes things not only easier for the couple, but also for their guests who only have to arrive at one place for everything.  Yesterday I was the DJ at the wonderful wedding and celebration of Elizabeth Mullen and Steven Huber at the University Club in Pittsburgh, PA.

The University Club is unique as it provides beautiful and separate areas for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The wedding yesterday was held in one of the club’s beautiful ballrooms.

After the ceremony the guests moved to the balcony which has a spectacular view of Oakland.

Elizabeth and Steven are probably the most easy going couple I’ve ever had the chance to work with.  The entire day reflected their loving and friendly personalities.  We discussed their musical preferences, but they allowed room for their guests to include their requests as well.

I’ve never heard so many guests rave about how much they enjoyed wedding cake!  It was also gorgeous.

After cocktail hour, everyone moved to the main ballroom where Liz and Steven had their first dance. The newlyweds had spent time choreographing the dance, but it was clear that many members of their families were wonderful dancers as well.  It was so fun to watch!

The Hora Dance was a HUGE success – all the guests crowded around as the newlyweds were lifted in the air!

It was clear to me from the beginning that Elizabeth and Steven were concerned about the needs of their guests. They created an amazing day that was relaxed and fun for themselves as well as all of their friends and family.  The newlyweds now get to focus on themselves for a while on their honeymoon getaway in Cancun.
