Omni William Penn

Few venues carry the historic presence of the Omni William Penn Hotel. An iconic downtown landmark, it offers multiple ballrooms that each bring a distinct personality to a wedding day. The setting feels timeless without ever feeling dated, which is part of what makes it such a lasting favorite in Pittsburgh.
The Grand Ballroom is especially striking, with soaring ceilings and dramatic chandeliers that immediately command attention. The scale of the room allows for a full, energetic reception, and it responds beautifully to uplighting, which enhances the architectural details without overwhelming them. The Urban Room offers a completely different atmosphere, with darker tones and a refined, Gatsby-inspired character that works well for ceremonies, cocktail hours, or an entire reception in a more intimate setting.
Because of the size and variety of spaces within the hotel, thoughtful coordination and sound placement ensure that each room feels balanced and cohesive. The structure of the venue allows couples to design a celebration that fits their style, whether that means classic elegance, vintage-inspired charm, or a combination of both.
Below are real weddings at the Omni William Penn, offering a closer look at how couples have brought these historic ballrooms to life.

When Bollywood Met Pittsburgh: Neha & Sean’s Epic Wedding Weekend at The Omni William Penn Hotel

One of the things I admired most about Neha and Sean’s wedding weekend was how much thought they put into every detail long before their guests arrived. They clearly spent months planning, creating, organizing, and dreaming about how they wanted these two days to feel. Then, when the celebrations finally arrived, they were able to let go of the planning and simply enjoy it. Everywhere I looked, they were spending time with family, laughing with friends, and soaking in moments that they had worked so hard to create. It felt less like a carefully orchestrated event and more like two people being fully present with the people they love most.

The weekend took place at The Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, and the hotel’s varied spaces gave each part of the celebration its own personality. Friday’s Sangeet featured a huge backdrop that Neha and Sean created themselves using thrifted tablecloths. It made for the perfect backdrop for the Sangeet. On Saturday, guests were welcomed by a beautiful seating display featuring adorable portraits of the couple. The ceremony took place in the Urban Room, with guests gathered around the central stage, creating a sense of closeness and connection. Later, everyone made their way into the Grand Ballroom, which looked absolutely gorgeous and felt ready to continue the celebration.

What stood out throughout the weekend was how personal everything felt. The handmade details, the custom décor, and the thoughtful touches all reflected Neha and Sean’s personalities. Friday night’s Sangeet was especially memorable. Ten different groups of family and friends performed choreographed dances for the couple, and every performance seemed to bring even more energy into the room. The cheers, laughter, and encouragement from the crowd made it feel less like a performance and more like one giant family celebration. You could tell how loved these two are by the people around them.

The music followed the same spirit. During the ceremony, elegant instrumental music helped set the tone before cocktails and dinner brought a mix of indie, acoustic, folk, and singer-songwriter favorites that kept the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. Once dancing began, everything shifted into party mode. The fusion of Bollywood music with disco, throwback dance favorites, pop classics, hip-hop, and current hits created one of the most fun and diverse dance floors I’ve seen in a long time. Both Friday and Saturday ended with packed dance floors and nonstop energy. Guests of all ages jumped in, sang along, and celebrated together. As a wedding DJ, those are the moments you hope for because you can feel the excitement building with every song.

I’ve been fortunate to be part of a lot of weddings over the years, but this is a weekend I’ll remember for a long time. Neha and Sean were so much fun to work with from start to finish. They had incredible ideas for special moments, custom mixes, and music that perfectly reflected both their families and their friends. Watching everything come together reminded me how special it is when a couple creates a wedding that feels completely like them. Later this year, they’ll be heading to Italy and Prague for their honeymoon, and if their wedding weekend was any indication, that adventure will be absolutely amazing, too.

Air Guitar, Conga Lines, and one amazing Cookie Table: An Unforgettable Night with Jen & Blaine at the Omni William Penn Hotel

Some weddings play it safe. Jen and Blaine’s was not that wedding. From the moment I met with them, I knew we were in for something special, and this spring day at the Omni William Penn Hotel delivered in every possible way. Their guests showed up ready to celebrate, and honestly, they came to party all night long. The energy in that room was infectious from start to finish, the kind of night where you glance at the clock and can’t believe how fast the hours went.

We started the evening in the Urban Room for cocktails, which has these grand architectural bones that gave the whole space a 1920s supper club feel. I had warm candlelight uplighting going throughout, and it really leaned into that Great Gatsby atmosphere. From there, everyone moved into the Grand Ballroom, which is just one of those rooms that earns its reputation. The centerpieces were gorgeous, the cookie table was enormous (as it should be in Pittsburgh), and there was a cat-themed cake topper that made me smile every time I walked past it.

Jen and Blaine set the tone for the whole night right at the grand entrance. Blaine came in absolutely shredding air guitar, and Jen had the entire room going with her “Where Is My Husband!” moment, which is exactly the kind of entrance that gets people out of their chairs before dinner even starts. Throughout the night, the crowd joined in “Ein Prosit” chants, which tells you everything you need to know about how loose and celebratory the whole room felt.

As for the music, the cocktail hour was all 1920s and big band jazz, which fit the Urban Room perfectly. Dinner kept a similar feel, warm and sophisticated, with jazz standards and classic pop filling the ballroom. Then the dancing started, and the whole thing shifted. The playlist moved through 80s pop, disco, classic R&B, and rock, and the crowd went with it every step of the way. At one point, a conga line formed and just kept going, snaking around that big dance floor with people jumping in from every direction. Newer hits got just as much love as the classics. It was one of those floors where you couldn’t tell who was having more fun.

Jen and Blaine put real thought into this night. Every special moment, every song choice, every detail reflected who they are as a couple. It was such a pleasure to help them bring their vision to life. Congatulations to the happy couple!

Nicole and Josh (Omni William Penn Hotel Wedding Reception)

There is nothing that compares to the excitement of a wedding day. There’s an energy in the air that radiates from the newlyweds and their families and radiates through all in attendance. From the moment I met with Nicole and Josh (and Nicole’s mom Debbie), I knew their reception would be one full of fun and energy where everyone would come to have the time of their lives.

The reception was held at the Omni William Penn hotel. The ballroom was absolutely stunning, featuring beautiful candles, full-sized trees, and a customized dance floor that made the perfect location or an epic dance party!

The playlist for the night was wonderfully customized to match the styles of the newlyweds, as well as their friends and family. Guests danced to everything from the Grateful Dead to Doja Cat. The evening even included an “Afterglow” party where guests were treated to a late night buffet and, of course, even more dancing! After such a perfect day, the happy couple are now continuing their celebration on their honeymoon in Hawaii!

Nancy and Kameron (Omni William Penn Wedding Reception)

One of the things that make wedding receptions so much fun is when the happy couple provides great options for their guests to enjoy.  This ensures that all their friends and family will have the time of their lives while celebrating with the newlyweds.  Nancy and Kameron did an excellent job choosing a wonderful selection of food and music for their party at the Omni William Penn Hotel in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh.

Their reception was held in the Urban Ballroom, which is a beautiful space with unique charm and decor.

After guests enjoyed a fabulous meal, everyone joined in the fun to dance to great music from yesterday and today.  Friends and family were also treated to a delicious cookie table and late night buffet!

Nancy and Kameron did an excellent job choosing music for their celebration.  They made sure there was a nice selection of 70s & 80s hits early in the night and then ended the evening with some newer hip-hop songs that they love.   All of this great variety made up for the perfect mix that kept everyone smiling and dancing all night long.  The happy couple is soon headed off for a well deserved honeymoon in Hawaii!

Mary Kate and Brian (Omni William Penn Hotel Wedding Reception)

Coming from a DJ, this might seem a little obvious, but I find it amazing how much fun you can have when you choose just the right music for your wedding.  Mary Kate and Brian were absolutely brilliant with the ways they used music throughout their celebration, held on a beautiful fall day at the Omni William Penn Hotel in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh.

The Grand Ballroom at the Omni is simply one of the most beautiful spaces in Pittsburgh.

Mary Kate and Brian’s reception featured an epic pre-dinner dance party, which helped set the tone for an evening that would be unforgettable!

Mary Kate and Brian’s playlist included everything from oldies to old skool.  There was something for everyone, including a few surprises, mashups and megamixes.  At the end of the night, it was clear that no one was ready for the night to end.  It was a good thing the newlyweds were prepared to join everyone at the after party.  The happy couple now gets to head off to enjoy some more fantastic music as they relax on their Hawaiian honeymoon!

Ashley and Dustin (Omni William Penn Hotel Wedding)

One of the most fun aspects of being a DJ is working with couples who have truly found their ideal match.  Every once in a while I get the pleasure of playing a reception where not only the couple seems to fit together perfectly, but their families do as well.  Ashley and Dustin’s relatives and friends joined together seemlessly to party and celebrate at their amazing reception at the Omni William Penn hotel in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh.

The Grand Ballroom looked completely stunning with the ballcony surrounded by candles.  This made the prefect location for this once in a lifetime celebration.

To say that there was some dancing would be an insane understatement.  Ashley and Dustin knew the music that would keep their guests dancing, singing and getting wild on the extremely large dance floor.  With over FOUR HOURS of dance music, guests were still excited to head off to the after party!  The newlyweds started off their new lives together surrounded by their newly joined families who truly know how to throw a party.  The happy couple now gets a little time away as they head off to their honeymoon in Spain & Portugal.

Jackie and Jeff (Omni William Penn Wedding DJ)

Weddings are serious business, but the couples who don’t take themselves too seriously are the ones who have the best time on their special day.  From the moment I met Jackie and Jeff,  I knew I wanted to be a part of their fun-filled wedding celebration.  Their ceremony and reception were both held in the Urban Room at the elegant Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.

Omni Pittsburgh Wedding-7

The Urban Room is an impressive ballroom with a unique Great Gatsby feel.  The staff at the Omni did a great job during cocktails transforming the room from the ceremony to the reception.

Jackie and Jeff’s guests were as friendly and fun as I had expected.  Everyone was clearly excited to dance and party with the newlyweds.  The fun continued as their closest family and friends headed to the after party.  The happy couple is now off to create more memories on their European honeymoon.

Holly and Neil (Omni William Penn Hotel)

The main reason I choose to only DJ for weddings is because I love the fact that no celebration is ever the same.  I love working with people to help create a day which truly reflects their style and tastes.  I can’t think of a better example than the elegant and beautiful reception of Holly and Neil, held in the Urban Room at the Omni William Penn Hotel.

Omni William Penn Urban Room Wedding-21

Although they now live in Texas, Holly and Neil gathered their friends and family in downtown Pittsburgh for an evening of class and sophistication.  Guests were in awe as they entered the beautiful Urban Room for dinner and dancing.  Holly and Neil’s background music for cocktails and the meal were a perfect match for their celebration.

When it was time to cut loose, everyone danced to a great variety of songs including Motown classics, rock hits, and some newer dance selections.  The newlyweds and their closest guests danced all the way until 1 AM!  Holly and Neil are now off to spend some time alone together on their romantic Hawaiian honeymoon.

Ally and Bob (Omni William Penn)

Everyone knows that the bride and groom are the center of attention on their wedding day.  Every once in awhile I get to work with a couple who shares that spotlight with their family and friends.  Ally and Bob gave lots of opportunities for all their guests to be part of their epic celebration at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA.

Omni William Penn Hotel Ballroom (25 of 25)

Their wedding reception was held in the William Penn Ballroom, and I was thrilled when they asked me to provide uplighting for the evening.  I love how lighting can help a couple customize a ballroom to truly match their style and tastes.

The entire evening, from the over-the-top grand entrance, to the opening dance party, to the amazing celebration that lasted until 2AM, their guests sang, danced and just went insane to all the great music.  I had so much fun being a part of this special evening as well as getting to know the newlyweds and their families.  Ally and Bob are off to begin their next adventure as they move to Texas!

Catherine and Jason (Omni William Penn)

Weddings are typically a very special time to spend with your friends.  As couples move into a new stage of life, the reception can be a fantastic opportunity to connect and celebrate with friends from childhood and school.  Catherine and Jason were joined by many of the friendliest (and craziest) people I’ve met for their wedding reception at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA.

Omni William Penn Urban Room Wedding (25 of 25)

The Urban Room at the Omni created the perfect setting for dinner and dancing.  Catherine and Jason’s decorations worked perfectly with the classic charm of the venue.

Making the evening even more special, the newlyweds gave their friends the opportunity to be a part of special songs/events.  This included a huge wedding selfie and an epic Notre Dame pushup tradition which I’m sure no one will ever forget.  Catherine and Jason’s guests helped create an evening that was truly fun and unique.  With their perfect wedding day completed, they are now off to Italy for a well dererved honeymoon.
