Sheraton Station Square

Weddings at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square often center around one of the most recognizable views in the city. The waterfront ballroom looks directly across the river toward the skyline, giving guests a sweeping backdrop that shifts beautifully from daylight to evening. It is a setting that feels distinctly Pittsburgh while still offering the flexibility of a full-service hotel venue.
Having been there around a dozen times, most frequently in the waterfront ballroom, I have seen how the space can be adapted for a wide range of guest counts. The Sheraton offers multiple rooms and layout combinations, allowing celebrations to feel proportionate whether intimate or expansive. Cocktail areas, adjoining rooms, and ballroom configurations can be arranged in ways that keep the evening flowing naturally.
Because of the room depth and adjoining spaces, thoughtful sound coverage is essential. Extending audio into secondary areas and carefully positioning speakers ensures that announcements, toasts, and music remain clear throughout the venue without overwhelming the main dance floor. Attention to those details helps the night feel seamless as guests move from one space to another.
Below are real weddings at the Sheraton Station Square, offering a closer look at how couples have used this one-of-a-kind setting for their celebration.

Emily and Travis (Sheraton Station Square Wedding)

Putting together an epic wedding day is hard work. There are tons of plans to make and it requires tons of coordination between friends, family and vendors to ensure your special day is one that no one will ever forget. One of the best parts of my job is getting to see everything come together and watch hundreds of guests caught up in an amazing once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

Emily and Travis (and their families) put an amazing amount of effort into their wonderful wedding day and it all paid off big time! The ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Sheraton Hotel at Station Square. After their sweet nuptials, guests made their way to the large ballroom for a truly unforgettable party. The dance floor was packed all night long as friends and family celebrated and sang songs from every genre imaginable!

The entire evening included lots of special customized elements including the centerpieces, flower wall and the best kettle corn in all of Pittsburgh! Emily and Travis’s music requests were also a perfect match for everyone to be able to join in the fun. The excitement was contagious and it was clear this group was ready to keep going all night long. Once the official party ended, everyone headed to the after party to spend even more time with the newlyweds. Emily and Travis’s hard work was 100% worth it as I’m sure their wedding is one people will talk about for years to come!

Stephanie and Eric (Sheraton Station Square Wedding Reception)

Planning the perfect wedding requires a lot of cooperation from everyone you know. The best weddings I’ve been lucky enough to DJ are the ones where the couple gets input and assistance from those closest to them. Stephanie and Eric’s fabulous wedding day incorporated special touches and moments from friends and family and made their reception truly one-of-a-kind!

Their ceremony and reception were held at the marvelous Sheraton Hotel at Station Square, where Stephanie wore a custom dress made by her mother! Later in the evening, guests were treated to a fabulous cookie table with tons of cookies made by Stephanie’s sister (who’s wedding I DJ’ed way back in 2014!).

After dinner there was an amazing dance party, and guests made some fabulous and unique song requests that kept the celebration going strong all night long. I have to add a big shout out to Eric’s 11 year-old nephew, Mario, who served as my fantastic DJ assistant and even help me pack up at the end of the night!

The evening included so many memorable moments (including Eric’s spectacular coat change from his morning to evening attire). It was sad when the party came to and end, but not without an unforgettable ending song where guests gathered and sang along with the newlyweds. Stephanie and Eric threw the most amazing party that was a perfect match for their style and for their fun and super friendly guests. It was a night I’m sure no one will soon forget!

Aubrey and Chad (Sheraton Station Square Reception)

As a wedding DJ, there is nothing that compares to getting to work with a couple that loves to dance. Wedding guests always want to be with the newlyweds, so you know it’s going to be a party when the happy couple spends their time on the dance floor! Aubrey and Chad’s reception at the Sheraton Station Square was one where everyone got to be part of the celebration AND spend a wonderful night with the bride and groom.

The Sheraton was a perfect reception venue with a beautiful view of the city. Instead of a guest book, everyone got to sign a “Wedding Jenga” piece for Aubrey and Chad to cherish. After the formal dances were over, it was time for an epic dance party including fantastic songs from yesterday and today.

It was so much fun to see the dance floor filled with guests of all ages. Aubrey and Chad’s music requests were a perfect match for their friends and family. The dancing never stopped until the final note of the final song as the newlyweds were surrounded by all of their favorite people. The happy couple is soon off to St. Lucia for some relaxation (and maybe a little more dancing).

Amanda and Ben (Sheraton Station Square)

One of the fun parts of being a wedding DJ is watching as the friends of the newlyweds come together to join the celebration.  Friends from grade school through college play such a big part of the big day.  I love the energy that’s created when they gather to party and celebrate with the happy couple.  Amanda and Ben invited lots of fun and energetic people who helped make their reception a night to remember.

Amanda and Ben held their reception at the wonderful Sheraton Hotel at Station Square.  The ballroom looked amazing and I was thrilled that they asked me to provide a monogram on the large dance floor.

When it was time to dance, their Best Man literally RAN to the dance floor to help get the celebration started!  He was soon joined by all of Amanda and Ben’s friends and family for a wild, silly, and fun dance party.

Amanda and Ben’s guests danced to some amazing music from yesterday and today.  At the end of the night, many of their friends were ready to head off to an after party.  No one wanted the party to end!  The happy couple will soon leave their friends behind as they head off to Punta Cana for their honeymoon.

Erin and Ricky (Sheraton Station Square)

How hard are you willing to work to make your wedding day perfect?  The answer is different for everyone, but for those who are able to put in a lot of effort, the results are always amazing.  Erin and Ricky raised the bar incredibly high for their amazing winter wedding reception held at the Sheraton Station Square.   On top of all the other details,  Erin learned two choreographed dances for the big day, one with Ricky and another one with her father.  These dances helped make an already wonderful evening even more memorable.

The Sheraton Ballroom looked fantastic and provided a spectacular view of the Pittsburgh skyline.  Guests all received Terrible Towels which made for an epic entrance!

Perhaps inspired but all the special dances, all of the newlyweds’ guests were ready to jump on the dance floor when the party began.  There was no shortage of singing, dancing and just craziness.  Erin and Ricky’s hard work resulted in the most perfect of celebrations.  The happy couple is now off to Jackson Hole, WY for a well deserved honeymoon.

Bernadette and David (Sheraton Station Square)

Let’s face it, some people just know how to throw a celebration.  Sometimes from the moment cocktail hour begins, you can just tell that a reception is going to become an absolute party.  Bernadette and David held their reception at the Sheraton Station Square, and their guests could not have been more excited to watch them have the best night of their lives.

Sheraton Station Square Wedding (25 of 25)

Bernadette and David were tons of fun to work with, and they had complete trust in me to help make their reception perfect.  They chose a great mix of genres, but really just wanted to be sure everyone danced and had a great time.  I had a head’s up that this night would be amazing since I had played David’s sister’s wedding a couple of years ago.  They also chose to have me provide a monogram for their dance floor. I love this personal touch.

Thankfully they thought to extend their evening in advance, and this allowed lots of time to include a great mix of music from 90’s punk, pop, and modern hits.  I love the chance to get to play a few unique songs that you don’t hear everywhere.  At the end of the night, Bernadette and David’s friends and family still had as much energy as ever as they danced, sang. hugged, and cheered louder than ever.  The newlyweds are now off for a little alone time in Dublin and London for an amazing honeymoon.

Stephanie and Jean-Pierre (Sheraton Station Square)

Most people look forward to seeing their friends and family get a little silly and crazy during their wedding reception.  One way to set the mood for a great celebration is to be willing to get a little wild yourself.  Stephanie and Jean-Pierre certainly understood how to create the perfect mood for their incredible party at the Sheraton Station Square.

Krick Bonasso Wedding

The newlyweds choreographed their first dance as husband and wife to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, which made it clear that this was going to be a wedding reception like no other.  They also included some unique music for the entire evening, including a dinner music playlist consisting of The Beatles.  The Sheraton was the perfect venue for their guests to enjoy singing, dancing and the incredible view of Pittsburgh.

Stephanie and Jean-Pierre are an incredibly fun couple who chose to include lots of their own personalities on their special day.  This really helped all of their guests to relax and get a little crazy too.  Everyone had a fantastic time dancing to a great selection of music and no one wanted the party to end.    Many guests stayed around long after the music ended to wish the newlyweds well before they left for their honeymoon in Panama.

Dana and Bradley (Sheraton Station Square DJ)

Weddings are filled with special moments, but I feel the ones that are unexpected and unique are the ones your guests will remember for years to come.  I assure my clients that I won’t spring any surprises on them, but if I can help bring a great idea to life, I’m always glad to help.  At the reception of Dana Barvinchak and Bradley Williams, I was able to assist in a great moment which surprised all their guests.

Pittsburgh Sheraton Station Square Wedding DJ-25

The reception was held at the Sheraton at Station Square.  Not only does the hotel provide a great ballroom space and attentive staff, but also the view of Pittsburgh provides a great backdrop for a celebration. Dana and Brad secured a projector and screen from the Sheraton on which to play a slideshow of photos from their childhood through present day.  We had prepared to play the slideshow shortly before dinner.  As a surprise to their guests, the newlyweds sent me a photo of themselves and the bridal party from earlier that day.  I was able to insert this photo at the end of their slideshow, and when it appeared on screen, their guests went wild!  This simple unexpected addition kept their guests buzzing all through dinner.

When it came to choosing music, Dana and Brad had some fun ideas which really kept the evening’s atmosphere upbeat and fun.  Their guests weren’t shy about coming out and filling the dance floor right away. When it came to choosing music, Dana and Brad had some fun ideas which really kept the evening’s atmosphere upbeat and fun.  Their guests weren’t shy about coming out and filling the dance floor right away.  I had such a great time working with Dana and Brad on each aspect of their special celebration.  Their creativity and enthusiasm was infectious as they planned the perfect day for themselves, as well as their friends and family.  After two encore songs, it was time for the couple to head off for the their honeymoon in Aruba.  They can relax knowing they succeeded in proving a day that no one will soon forget.

Cara and Dave (Sheraton Station Square DJ)

Many of my friends were surprised to hear I’d be DJing a wedding on New Year’s Eve this year.  As I worked with Cara Kappler and Dave Oechslein, I came to realize what a perfect match these two occasions would be.  It was perfect for them to be with their friends and family, celebrating the beginning of a new year while starting a new chapter of their lives as husband and wife.

I was impressed with how Cara and Dave created the schedule to be certain most of their guests would be happy to stay at the reception until past Midnight.  When the newlyweds had their first dance after dinner, everyone was ready to begin the celebration of the upcoming new year.

The great variety of music that was a played throughout the night was selected by Cara and Dave to be sure there was something for everyone.

Of course there were New Year’s Eve hats and noise makers which really helped get everyone ready to welcome 2012.

Christie and Dave (Sheraton Station Square)

I love that I get to play such an important part of people’s special day.  I also love the fact that every reception is so unique and special.  During my trip down memory lane, I came across these images from Christy Brankley & Dave Schoen’s wedding reception held at the Sheraton Station Square.

Held in one of the inner rooms at the Sheraton, Christie and Dave had a completely wild and fun reception.  From the moment the bridal party arrived I knew this would be a one of a kind evening.

Pittsburgh Magazine

Pittsburgh Magazine

I was extremely happy to hear that one of my clients from 2009 were going to have their wedding featured in the 2010 wedding edition of Pittsburgh Magazine.  Karen Kurey & Jeremy Rocco had an amazing reception held at the Sheraton in Station Square.  It was so much fun working with them to create such a beautiful, unique and wildly fun evening.  The photos featured in the magazine were taken by none other than the amazingly talented Heather Lahtinen of Weddings By Heather.  Because Heather’s work is so spectacular, she has two weddings featured in this special issue.  You can see more of Karen & Jeremy’s beautiful wedding photos at Heather’s website.

You can get a look at the article on the Pittsburgh Magazine website.
