Slippery Rock University

Located on campus in Butler County, the Robert M. Smith Student Center at Slippery Rock University offers a reception space that is clean, spacious, and highly adaptable. The layout is designed to accommodate a wide range of event sizes, making it a practical option for couples planning a larger guest count.
The ballroom provides ample room for dinner service and a full dance floor, with clear sightlines that keep introductions and toasts visually connected. Its neutral interior gives couples flexibility in shaping the atmosphere, whether leaning more formal or more contemporary.
Because the space is expansive, thoughtful sound placement ensures music and spoken moments carry evenly from front to back. When coordinated carefully with the venue team, the evening flows naturally from dinner into a full celebration.
Below is a look at how a wedding at the Robert M. Smith Student Center comes together once the reception is underway.

Bridget and Ryan (Slippery Rock University Wedding Reception)

Being a DJ, it’s always fun for me to work with couples who love all sorts of music.  It’s always great when newlyweds provide me with a list of special songs that are unique to their tastes so I can use that to make their day extra perfect.  Bridget and Ryan spent some serious time developing an awesome playlist for me to use at their celebration, it couldn’t have been better.  Their reception was held at the Robert M Smith Student Center at Slippery Rock University.

The Student Center at Slippery Rock provided a wonderfully large space for all of Bridget and Ryan’s friends and family to enjoy an evening of fun.  I was thrilled to provide some uplighting and a monogram to help customize the space for the celebration.

The songs that I played throughout the evening was diverse and entertaining.  Guests were able to enjoy every style of music from oldies, rock, country and top 40.  This made for a dance party everyone could enjoy.

Bridget and Ryan put together an amazing party from beginning to end for their closest friends and family.  The evening allowed lots of time for visiting, dancing and celebrating.  After all their hard worked paid off, the happy couple will soon be off for a well-deserved honeymoon in Greece!

Catherine and Aaron (Slippery Rock University Wedding)

I’ve worked with some amazingly fun and creative couples over my DJ career.  I believe a new standard has been set for creativity at the reception of Catherine and Aaron.  Their fall wedding was held at their Alma Mater, Slippery Rock University, in the ballroom at the Robert M. Smith Student Center.

I was truly impressed by the fantastic decor and favors that Catherine and Aaron chose for the reception.  My favorite had to be the customized sunglasses!  I was able to provide a monogram and uplighting for the ballroom.

The newlyweds’ guests knew they were in for a fun evening as the couple kicked off the party with an awesome first dance!  I helped them create a great mix that ended with some fun choreography to Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance”!  When it was time, all of their family and friends did just that.  The dance floor was the place to be for almost 4 hours!

I had a blast working with Catherine and Aaron, and was completely thrilled to be part of their celebration.  This hard working couple is now off to relax and enjoy some alone time on their romantic Jamaican honeymoon.
