There are some weddings where you can tell the couple had a vision from the very beginning. Abby and Josh’s wedding was one of those. They spent countless hours planning special moments, choreographed dances, music cues, and thoughtful details that reflected who they are. The best part was that once the day finally arrived, all of that preparation allowed them to simply enjoy themselves. They were able to be present with their family and friends, knowing everything they had worked so hard to create was coming together exactly as they had imagined.

Their celebration took place at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh, and it was the perfect setting for such a detailed wedding day. The ceremony was held outside at the casino’s riverside amphitheater, giving everyone a beautiful view of the water as Abby and Josh said their vows. Inside, the ballroom was filled with natural light from the large windows, making the room feel bright and welcoming all afternoon. I’ve always appreciated the staff at Rivers Casino, too. They are some of the most helpful people I’ve worked with, and they helped everything flow smoothly from one part of the day to the next.

The reception was filled with personal touches that made it unmistakably Abby and Josh’s. Guests were welcomed by a photobooth, guest phone book, and a table with cat and dog toys, gifts from the couple’s own pets, which immediately had everyone smiling. They even designed custom wedding-themed T-shirts that guests could purchase as a fun keepsake from the day. Every detail felt intentional without ever feeling overdone. It all reflected the time and care they had poured into creating an experience that was meaningful for the people they love.

The music followed that same thoughtful approach throughout the reception. Cocktails began with modern country favorites before dinner settled into a mix of country ballads, timeless love songs, and soulful classics. One of my favorite parts of the evening was seeing guests make song requests throughout dinner and dancing. Those requests helped shape the soundtrack while keeping everyone involved in the celebration. Once the dance floor opened, every generation found their moment. Country fans, classic rock lovers, hip-hop enthusiasts, and guests looking for pop and dance favorites all had their chance to fill the floor. The energy stayed high until the very end, when everyone gathered for one last dance before lining the hallway with ribbons to send the newlyweds off. Just before joining their family and friends, Abby and Josh shared one final private dance together to “Then,” a quiet moment before stepping back into the excitement waiting outside.

I’ve been fortunate to DJ a lot of weddings throughout Pittsburgh, and this one reminded me how special it is when a couple fully embraces the planning process while never losing sight of what the day is really about. Abby and Josh created so many one-of-a-kind moments that their guests will be talking about for years to come. I have no doubt they’ll carry that same sense of adventure with them as they set sail on their Disney Cruise to the Bahamas to begin this next chapter together.
