Kaylie and Brok’s Magical, Musical Day at The Iroquois Club in Conneaut Lake

Kaylie and Brok held their reception at the fantastic Iroquois Club in Conneaut Lake, and from the start it was clearly a celebration built around two people who really love music. The whole day had an easy, happy energy. Friends and family showed up ready to spend the afternoon and evening together, and you could tell right away that this was a crowd that knew the couple well and was genuinely excited to be there.

The Iroquois Club sits right on the lake, and the dining room has wonderful windows that let natural light pour in. The staff there were some of the most helpful folks I’ve worked with in a while, which always makes setup feel less like work and more like a team effort. The dance floor was sized just right, close enough that nobody felt stranded out there alone, but with plenty of room to actually move when the night opened up.

The reception had some really personal touches throughout. During dinner, Kaylie and Brok included some songs that were their siblings’ first wedding dances, which is the kind of detail that maybe only family in the room picks up on, but it means everything to the people it’s meant for. The cake cutting was even better. They used a recording from a Hunter Hayes live sound check they had attended, the one where Hayes himself told them how cool it was that they had chosen his song for this exact moment. After cake cutting, the newlyweds had their first dance (with a little more Hunter Hayes), and their parent dances.

Cocktail hour leaned into modern pop, country, and a healthy dose of boy band classics, which set the tone for what was coming. Dinner stayed warm and easy with country, pop ballads, and singer-songwriter songs that gave people room to actually talk to each other. When we opened up the dance floor, the newlyweds came out swinging with their guests, and the first stretch of dancing ran through 70s disco, 80s pop, boy band classics, and 2000s dance hits back to back. Later in the night, the crowd shifted more toward visiting and catching up, which gave me a chance to dig into some of Kaylie and Brok’s lesser-known favorites. Through all of it, the two of them stayed right next to each other on the dance floor, dancing to the music that they love the most.

Kaylie and Brok are real music fans, and it showed in every choice they made for this reception. It’s a rare thing when a couple cares this much about what’s playing in every part of their day, and it made my job feel less like work and more like building something alongside them. Wishing them a great honeymoon in Punta Cana and a lot of years ahead filled with the songs they love most.
