Carnegie Museum of Natural History

I’ve had the opportunity to DJ over 40 weddings at Carnegie Museum of Natural History, most of them in the stunning Music Hall Foyer. With its towering marble columns and intricate metalwork overhead, it remains one of the most breathtaking reception spaces in Pittsburgh.
Cocktail hour is typically held on the balcony above the marble room, and many couples begin their reception with their first dance while guests look on from above. I provide speakers on the balcony from cocktail hour through the first dance so everyone feels fully part of the moment.
Because it is such a large space, sound placement and pacing matter. After working here so many times alongside a meticulous and professional staff, I am able to focus completely on creating the right atmosphere, whether that means an elegant evening or a full dance floor with plenty of room to celebrate.
Below you will find real weddings I have DJ’d at Carnegie Museum of Natural History, including playlists and highlights from each celebration.

Constance and William (Carnegie Museum Wedding)

Most weddings end up being a mix of family or ethnic traditions mixed with modern elements.  Determining which elements to include of each can be challenging.  Constance and Bill chose wonderful details to include in their elegant reception at the Carnegie Museum in Oakland.

The Music Hall Foyer at the Museum always gives a wonderful sense of class and style.  The room looked amazing with the stunning place setting and flower arrangements.

Constance and Bill chose to include a traditional Greek money dance, where their guests threw bills directly on the floor as they danced along with the newlyweds.  It was fantastic!

One of the more modern elements I was able to help with was providing a great mix of songs that include Top 40 hits from today, as well as some amazing songs from the 80’s & 90’s.  The newlyweds treated their friends and family to a beautiful celebration that truly had something for everyone.  The happy couple will leave soon for a romantic honeymoon in Hawaii.

Christina and Garrett (Carnegie Museum Wedding)

Some of the best receptions are the ones where most of the guest leave feeling a little disappointed.  As a DJ, there’s nothing better than seeing friends and family of the bride and groom sad that the party is over.  Christina and Garrett’s wonderful celebration at the Carnegie Museum left everyone, including me, convinced they could have danced until dawn.

Carnegie Museume Wedding (8 of 25)

The Music Hall Foyer at the museum is simply the most elegant and stunning venue in Pittsburgh.  The newlyweds added lots of personal details throughout the space, but my favorite has to be their anniversary piñata!

Christina and Garrett planned for a special evening that allowed them plenty of time for celebrating, eating, visiting and lots of dancing.  Their guests wasted no time filling up the large dance floor and going crazy to great songs from the 60’s to today.  After two “One More Song!” encores it was clear no one was ready to see the night end.  The happy couple planned ahead for that as well, as everyone headed off to the after-party to continue the epic celebration.

Kate and Chris (Carnegie Museum)

I frequently have the opportunity to DJ weddings for people who have grown up in Pittsburgh and had to move away for school, jobs or other reasons.  Kate and Chris came back to the city for their big celebration at the Carnegie Museum in Oakland.

Carnegie Museum Music Hall Wedding (6 of 25)

The Music Hall Foyer looked stunning as the newlyweds had their first dance.  I can’t think of a better venue to treat out-of-town guests to the best of Pittsburgh.

Kate and Chris had invited lots of friends and family to be part of their special day.  They were so excited to be with the happy couple, that once it was time to dance everyone crowded the floor and got crazy.  There wasn’t a dull moment all evening as the guests danced and sang to every single song that played.  The newlyweds now get to visit more destinations before heading back home.  They are headed to Thailand and Vietnam for a once in a life time honeymoon!

Victoria and Ben (Carnegie Museum Wedding DJ)

Many couples worry about hiring a wedding DJ who may act corny or play cheesy music. It’s important that the style of the DJ and the music matches the tastes of the bride and groom. Tory and Ben knew what was right for for their elegant and wonderfully fun celebration at the Carnegie Museum Music Hall Foyer.

The Carnegie Museum continues to be my favorite venue in Pittsburgh. The beauty and elegance of the Music Hall Foyer just can’t be matched.

Tory and Ben provided me terrific guidance regarding the playlist for their celebration.  They knew exactly what their friends and family would enjoy, but also gave me the opportunity to contribute to the music selections.   Everyone had a great time dancing, singing and celebrating with the newlyweds.  The happy couple created a beautiful and modern celebration that no one will ever forget.

Lisa and Joseph (Carnegie Museum Wedding DJ)

Almost anyone you meet would tell you that they love music, but only a select few people are truly passionate about a wide variety of songs and artists.  Even fewer still know how to craft a great playlist to create their ideal wedding celebration.  Lisa and Joe’s passion and knowledge of music allowed them to choose the perfect soundtrack for their reception at the Carnegie Museum’s Music Hall Foyer in Pittsburgh, PA

The Music Hall is my absolutely favorite place to DJ in Pittsburgh.  Such an amazingly beautiful venue that is elegant and timeless.

Lisa and Joe’s friends and family were tuned in to the couple’s music selections as everyone cheered and sang along to each song.  Everyone partied and danced all night long before heading off to the after party for more celebrating.  The happy couple is headed off to a romantic Mediterranean Cruise where they can relax and, I’m sure, listen to some more great music.

Kristen and Omar (Carnegie Museum)

I believe every couple should be able to have their wedding exactly as they’ve always dreamed.  It’s important to make the details of your day a true reflection of who you are.  Kristen and Omar did an amazing job making their celebration at the Carnegie Museum a terrific blend of style, elegance, and fun.

Carnegie Museum Wedding DJ (25 of 25)

Their reception began with cocktails in the Hall of Architecture, with live music by the MerryMakers, who then led the guests in a New Orleans Style parade to the Music Hall Foyer, where the newlyweds held their romantic first dance.  It was a great way to show everyone this was going to be a very special evening.

As dinner ended, the guests were able to enjoy a great mix of music chosen by the newlyweds.  Kristen and Omar worked hard on a playlist which included everything from Sinatra, The Drifters, Journey, and Neil Diamond, as well as newer music from Pitbull and Michael Jackson.  The music, as well as many other elements of the evening, worked perfectly as a way for this fun and stylish couple to share parts of themselves with their closest friends and family.

There are no words.  I wish I could give Schiemer Entertainment 100x the amount of stars possible on this website.

To me the music and DJ at a reception is what keeps the party alive. I wanted a wedding where guests would talk about it for hours, days, weeks, months, and years after. We haven’t gotten to months or years, but hours, days, and weeks have passed and the response I keep getting is that I had the best wedding my guests had ever been to. Although that is a compliment to me, I think it is more a compliment to my DJ. Eric Schiemer was able to put together a playlist of music that kept people on their feet all night.

After speaking on the phone with Eric, I knew he was my man. He possessed a knowledge about weddings that other DJ’s I had contacted didn’t have.  Once booked, he gave me access to a site that allowed me to input all my information, choose songs, create a do not play list, and organized all my songs and information to make the reception planning easy.

Like mentioned above, I have not a complaint in the world about Eric. He is the single person I credit for the amazing time my guests, my husband, and I had at my reception. He listened to what I wanted, created an amazing playlist, and flawlessly input guest requests into the reception.

I cannot thank Eric enough for helping us celebrate such a special night.

Katie and Andrew (Carnegie Museum)

I sometimes get the chance to DJ for weddings which have used a theme to tie details and decorations together.  Katie and Andrew’s “How I Met Your Mother” inspired wedding has to be one of the most cute and imaginative ideas I’ve ever seen.  Their ceremony and reception were held in the amazingly beautiful Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, PA.

Prosen Butor Wedding

Subtle details from the TV show could be seen throughout the venue, but Katie and Andrew carefully planned everything so well that even non-HIMYM fans wouldn’t feel out of the loop.  The card box, table cards, cake, and more were all charming references to the show, while still remaining elegant and beautiful.

The newlyweds did a fantastic job planning the details of their wedding, including some amazing music choices throughout the day.  Guests had a great time dancing, singing and getting a little crazy to a great variety of music.  Katie and Andrew’s day full of woo-girls, wingmen, yellow umbrellas, and 1 ducky tie was the perfect match for their charming and fun personalities.  They’re now off to Fiji begin the next season of their lives together.  It’s sure to be Legen…dary.

Chelsea and Brian (Carnegie Museum)

What really makes a wedding day a “Once In A Lifetime” event?  I feel what makes the wedding day unique is the  fact that this particular group of friends and family will never gather together again to celebrate the love of the bride and groom.  Chelsea and Brian’s wedding reception at the Carnegie Museum Music Foyer was an over the top celebration, thanks to their fun and energetic guests.

Getts Bosiljevac Wedding

The Carnegie Museum is one of my favorite wedding venues in all of Pittsburgh.  Beautiful and elegant, the setting suited the newlyweds perfectly.

Chelsea and Brian knew exactly which music would get the dance floor going.  A mix of mostly newer music with some great wedding classics mixed in through the night kept guests of all ages partying all night.  I had a blast being a part of this amazingly perfect evening, and couldn’t be happier for Chelsea and Brian as they head to St. Lucia for their honeymoon.

Dana and James (Carnegie Museum Wedding DJ)

One of my favorite things about weddings today is how couples are ready to incude only the the music and events that meet their style and tastes.  Dana and James planned  a day at the Carnegie Museum in Oakland, which began with great elegance in the Hall of Architecture and ended with an epic modern dance party in the Music Hall Foyer.

Rozum Wood Wedding

Dana and James chose to have contemporary piano music for cocktails and dinner, which matched perfectly with the beauty of the Music Hall Foyer.  After a few special dances, it was time to get the party started.  The newlyweds chose mostly music from the past decade, which was a perfect match for their wild and energetic guests.

The dance floor remained a crazy celebration all the way up until the last minute of the evening.  Afterwards, everyone made their way to the front of the museum for a sparkler farewell before Dana and Jim headed off for their honeymoon in Cancun.

Jaime and Matt (Carnegie Museum Wedding DJ)

Often when I meet with prospective clients for my DJ service, they’ll ask just how much the music for their wedding reception can be customized.  I always assure them, that if they choose, they could pick 100% of the music to make their day exactly as they wish.  By the time the wedding rolls around, some couples have chosen only a few selections, but there are instances where I get to work with couples who are passionate enough about their music choices to supply me with all the songs I’ll need to make the day a total success.  This weekend at the Carnegie Museum, I was able to help Jaime Azzara and Matt Lagoy put together an amazing, romantic, energetic and unique playlist for their beautiful Pittsburgh reception.

Carnegie Museum Wedding DJ-25

The Carnegie Museum is one of my absolute favorite Pittsburgh reception venues.  The beautiful marble in the Music Hall foyer is always stunning.

Matt and Jaime worked extremely hard on choosing music that not only reflected their taste and style, but also was guaranteed to get everyone up and dancing.  I created quite a few custom mixes for the occasion, so we were sure to be able to fit in all the songs that the newlyweds wanted to hear.

As the guests watched from the balcony of the museum, Jaime and Matt had their first dance together.

After dinner, we wasted no time getting the dance floor going, and the celebration began!

As a wedding dj, it’s fun for me to work with a couple as passionate about music as I am.  I’m thrilled they put their faith in me to make sure everything went as they had planned.  I want to send big thanks and good wishes to the newlyweds as they leave for their Hawaiian honeymoon.

Lindsay and Jason (Carnegie Museum Wedding DJ)

This past weekend, I was given the opportunity to perform at a wedding reception that included all of my favorite things about being a DJ.  The wedding and reception of Lindsay Daldoss and Captain Jason Hall was held the day before Memorial Day at the Carnegie Museum Music Hall Foyer in Pittsburgh, PA.  The first of my favorite things about this day was the happy couple.  Lindsay and Jason were fun, relaxed, and just awesome to work with.

Military Wedding DJ

Secondly would be the Carnegie Museum.  The Music Hall is simply breath-taking and is easily one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh to DJ.

Carnegie Museum Wedding

Obviously, music plays a big part in every reception. Lindsay and Jason were so fun and relaxed that they gave me tons of freedom to choose the right music to make the day romantic as well as a big celebration for all their friends and family. The results were a fun mix of jazz standards (cocktails), coffee house rock (dinner) and great dance music that kept everyone up on their feet.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, this was a military wedding, which again, goes on my list of favorites.  It’s such an honor to get to DJ for the men and women who serve our great nation.

Of course, everybody loves a full dance floor!

I also loved the opportunity to see Jena and Michael Hutchison who had me as their DJ a little over a year ago!

I really could go on and on about how many things I loved about this day.  Ultimately, the thing I loved most was that Lindsay and Jason chose me as their DJ to help them celebrate their new lives together.  The newlyweds are now off on a well deserved honeymoon before they resume their service to our nation in their new home in Korea.
