Meghan and Eric (Oglebay Resort Wedding Reception)

To say 2020 has been a difficult year for wedding planning would be a gross understatement.  Couples have been forced to decide what it is about their wedding that is most important, and to be willing to be a bit more flexible on some of the other details.  What I loved most about working with Meghan and Eric was their commitment to spending their big day with the people who were most special to them.  They knew that nothing would matter more than the memories they would create surrounded by their friends and family.

Their wonderful reception was held at the beautiful Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia.  The ballroom not only looked amazing, but allowed plenty of space for guests to enjoy an evening of socializing, dinner and dancing!

Meghan and Eric did a fabulous job creating an evening that was fun for everyone.  Their song choices included a wide variety of music from yesterday and today to ensure no one was left out of the fun!  Towards the end of the night, all of their guests gathered around as the newlyweds headed off to begin this new chapter of their lives.  It was really obvious to me how special this evening was for all who attended… people even stayed and danced a while after the couple was gone!  Meghan and Eric are now headed off for a truly well-deserved honeymoon in Washington, DC.

Emily and David (Hookstown, PA Wedding Reception)

This year has been nearly impossible for couples to know what choices to make for their wedding.  While 2020 has been a bit overwhelming for some, Emily and David navigated these unprecedented times with grace and style.  When things threatened their ability to hold an indoor reception, they moved everything to a lovely outdoor location where they held their perfect wedding day amongst all of their favorite people.

The ceremony and reception were all held outdoors in Hooktown, PA.  There was plenty of room for all of their guests to enjoy the beautiful summer day as well as enjoy a special meal provided by a local food truck (very cool idea!).

Having their wedding celebration on private property gave them the ability to enjoy the day exactly how they wanted.  The schedule was relaxed, which left lots of time for guests to enjoy a wide variety of wonderful music, all of which led up to a great sparkler ending where all of the guests yelled and cheered for the newlyweds.  Emily and David’s wonderful wedding day is proof that sometimes “Plan B” is destined to be the best thing that could ever happen.  I’m so glad I was able to be part of their wonderful celebration!

Katlyn and Charlie (Twelve Oaks Mansion Wedding Reception)

Wedding planning has always been challenging, but this year has made things even more interesting for couples as they prepare for their big day.  Katlyn and Charlie navigated the entire process with thoughtfulness and attention to detail as they put together a wonderful celebration that all of their guests could enjoy and party.

The wedding reception was held at the wonderful 12 Oaks Mansion and Mars, PA.  Katlyn and Charlie made great use of all the spaces ensuring there was plenty of room for guests to spread out and have fun.  Since it was also the Fourth of July, they incorporated a subtle red, white and blue theme that could be seen throughout the venue.  I was able to help with the decor by providing a their monogram and uplighting!

Guests enjoyed some outdoor games, fireworks, and of course, plenty of dancing!  Katlyn and Charlie included the “La Hora Loca” which was a huge hit with everyone as they brought out a lot of Fourth of July hats and lights.  It was wonderful getting to see all of their family and friends come together and celebrate with the happy couple.  It was the party of a lifetime and one I’m sure none of their guests will soon forget!

Colleen and Jason (Twelve Oaks Mansion Wedding Reception)

I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to express how much I love being a wedding DJ.  There’s something very special about being chosen to work with a couple to help make their big day turn out exactly as they have planned.  Colleen and Jason weren’t supposed to be my first wedding of 2020, but  I can’t imagine a better way to kick off the season than being part of their wonderful celebration.

The reception was held at beautiful Twelve Oaks Mansion in Mars, PA.  Colleen and Jason added personal touches (including custom hand sanitizer) that created a terrific atmosphere for their guests to enjoy.  I was added some uplighting and their monogram, which looked amazing in the foyer.

While this year has definitely been different for everyone, it was a real joy for me to see how Colleen and Jason’s friends and family came together to ensure this day was perfect for them in every way.  It was also very clear to me how much their guests enjoyed this opportunity to relax and spend some quality time together.  Personally, I believe there is always some ‘wedding magic’ that happens when people gather to celebrate the love of newlyweds, but Colleen and Jason’s celebration was one I think all of their guests really needed, and one they can all cherish for many, many years to come.

Ashley and John (Renaissance Pittsburgh Wedding Reception)

It’s always a bittersweet feeling for me when I DJ the last wedding of my season each year.  While I do enjoy having a little time off to spend with friends and family, I miss having the chance to participate in so many wonderful and happy occasions.  I can’t think of a better way to end my 2019 season than to be a part of Ashley and John’s beautiful wedding reception held at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Hotel.

Ashley and John did an amazing job decorating the hotel, and included lots of special details including chocolate covered apples at each place setting!  The view from the ballroom was a great way show off Pittsburgh to their out-of-town guests.  It also made the perfect spot for an epic dance party!

Ashley and John were great fun to work with.  Their fun, relaxed and genuinely kind personalities let me know their reception would be a great time for everyone.  The guests had a wonderful time dancing to a wide variety of excellent music from yesterday and today.  At the end of the night, the newlyweds were surrounded one of the largest dance circles I’ve ever seen.  It was clear no one wanted to miss an opportunity to enjoy every minute of this terrific celebration!

Laura and Greg (University Club of Pittsburgh Wedding Reception)

The thing I love most about being exclusively a wedding DJ is how every event is entirely customized to each couple.  Sometimes I work with people who request a large amount of music up front, and then my job is determine how to best make it all work for their guests.  In other cases I get to work with a couple like Laura and Greg who made a few specific choices, but gave me the freedom to best determine what would make their friends and family have the most fun.

I can’t imagine there was a better place to hold their celebration than the beautiful University Club ballroom.  There was plenty of space for visiting, dining and a fabulous dance party!

Laura and Greg’s friends and family were all remarkably outgoing and friendly all night long.  It was such a pleasure to fill their requests and keep the dance party going strong.  The newlyweds were able to spend lots of time with their guests and still had lots of opportunity to dance and party.  Having spent so much effort making sure everyone had a great time, the happy couple is soon headed off to a well deserved honeymoon in the Caribbean!
