Johnna and Joseph (Sheraton Airport)

Many soon-to-be-married couples spend lots of time figuring out what they will give to those who attend their wedding. While the favors, hor d’oeuvres and special music selections are all very important, the best gift for your guests is giving them a good reason to come together and be part of a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Johnna and Joe’s wedding was perfectly planned so everyone could enjoy a day of joy and happiness with family and lifelong friends.

Their ceremony was held at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport Hotel. Making things even more special, Johnna’s aunt officiated the ceremony.

The ballroom looked amazing with stunning blue uplighting. I was thrilled to be able to provide a custom monogram above their sweetheart table.

There was plenty of good food, conversation and a great variety of dance music. More importantly, the room was filled with joy as everyone enjoyed celebrating Johnna and Joe’s new life together. The newlyweds are soon off to enjoy a gift to themselves, a romantic and well-deserved honeymoon in Hawaii!

Nicole and Dylan (Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport)

I feel very fortunate that I get to work with some of the sweetest couples in Pittsburgh to help make their big day extra special. Working with Nicole and Dylan was a fantastic experience not only for me, but for all of their vendors. Everyone from the photographers to the venue staff commented on how great it was to work with such wonderfully nice and relaxed people.

Nicole and Dylan held their reception at the Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport Hotel. The ballroom looked beautiful with with lots of special touches and uplighting. I loved that they chose to ask guests to sign their Bible and highlight their favorite verse as a guest book.

The newlyweds chose some great music for dancing, but left lots of freedom for me to play what would keep their guests on their feet. They planned their reception as a huge party for their friends and family to enjoy, and wanted to be sure everyone would have a chance to get on the dance floor. It was great to see everyone from 8 to 80 join in and celebrate with Nicole and Dylan. After doing so much work to be sure their guests and vendors could enjoy their wedding day, the happy couple is off for a well-deserved honeymoon in Punta Cana.

Amie and Benjamin (Heinz History Center)

At the end of Amie and Ben’s reception, there was a discussion about how everyone had all experienced a “unicorn wedding”. A day that was so perfect, most people would consider it a myth. It made me wonder how they had succeeded in having such an unbelievably epic wedding day.

For starters, Amie and Ben chose to work with a venue and vendors that they put 100% confidence behind. Many of the vendors were either personal friends, or ones they had experience with at other events. The Heinz History Center was an amazing choice for both their ceremony and reception; the ballroom looked absolutely stunning.

The newlyweds made so many choices that helped make their day unforgettable. From Amie’s stunning pink dress, to the absolutely beautiful flower arrangements, to the dessert bar featuring dairy & gluten free treats. Even their music choices formed a fun soundtrack for all of their guests to enjoy from beginning to end. More importantly, Amie and Ben remained relaxed and fun throughout the day and were able to enjoy their once-in-a-lifetime celebration with their friends and family. The happy couple is all set to enjoy some time away on their honeymoon in Hawaii.

Christine and Stephen (Fairmont Pittsburgh)

One big wedding question no one can answer for certain is “How will the reception end?”. While you can plan for a final song with tons of guests, or just let the music play until the last few friends and family members remain, you never know for sure until the time arrives. Christine and Stephen choose to wait and see what felt right, and the results could not have been more perfect!

Their reception was held at the beautiful ballroom at the Fairmont Pittsburgh. I was so happy they chose to have me provide uplighting, which always adds a wonderful touch to the room.

Christine and Stephen’s guests had clearly come to celebrate, so no one was shy about joining in the fun. As the night drew to an end, everyone came to the dance floor for a big sing-a-long to Billy Joel’s “Piano Man”. It could not have been a more suitable ending for such a wonderful evening. The happy couple will soon head off to Aruba for a romantic honeymoon.

Marci and Mark (The Club at Nevillewood)

It can be difficult to determine how to infuse some fun into your wedding reception details while keeping things elegant. It’s a great way to add some of your personality into your venue and make things feel more relaxed for your friends and family. Marci and Mark made excellent choices in their decor at the Club at Nevillewood that made the perfect setting for their wonderful wedding celebration.

The ballroom at the Club is a stunning setting, and their choices of table settings fit the venue perfectly. One of my favorite touches of fun was their unique and completely honest cake topper!

Marci and Mark’s customizations didn’t stop with the decorations, but they also provided some amazing song requests, including a really fun 90’s pop medley which kept everyone dancing and singing all night long. It was clear to everyone how much work they had put in, but it all paid off in the end as so many of their guests stayed all the way to the end of the party. The happy couple is off for a well deserved Hawaiian honeymoon to celebrate all of their success of the big day.

Elizabeth and Kevin (Carnegie Museum)

Every once in while I get the rare opportunity to DJ a reception where it’s clear how much the guests enjoy a very wide variety of music. At Elizabeth and Kevin’s celebration at the Carnegie Museum in Oakland, their guests went wild over music from the 50’s to today. Young and old crowded the dance floor and went wild all night long.

Kevin and Elizabeth took the time to create an elegant reception with lots of personal touches, like these adorable place cards with gold keys!

The happy couple took the time to come up with a fantastic list of music suggestions for me to include throughout the evening, but also allowed me the flexibility to include requests from their friends and family. This lead to a party that could not have been more fun for everyone. The night ended with a packed dance floor and guests that were ready to head off for more celebrating at the after party.
