The Knot Best of Weddings 2013

Each year the editors of the Knot website and magazine make a list of top vendors in each area based on the reviews left by bride’s on their website.  I’ve been blessed to have worked with some amazing clients who have left some wonderful words about the DJ services I was able to provide at their Pittsburgh wedding receptions this past year.  Thanks to these thoughtful newlyweds, I’ve been honored again with this award.  I’m humbled every time I look at these reviews, if you’re interested in reading what real clients have to say about my services, you can read them here.

Stephanie and Joel (Beth Shalom Synagogue DJ)

Throughout my career as a Pittsburgh DJ, I’ve been fortunate enough to perform at a variety of various cultural and religious wedding receptions.  While I wouldn’t consider my self a specialist at these events, I work closely with couples to make sure I can provide the exact entertainment service they need.  Stephanie Rosenthal and Joel Pomerantz were great to work with at their Jewish ceremony and reception held this past Sunday at the Beth Shalom Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA.

The newlyweds asked me to provide music and a microphone for their ceremony. The large ballroom allowed plenty of room for all the separate festivities of the day.

Stephanie and Joel chose to use classical music through most of the day, and saved more mainstream music for the last hour of the reception.  This helped keep an appropriate and yet stylish mood to the celebration.

As the newlyweds entered their reception, the guests joined them on the floor for Havah Nagilah.  This might be the most full dance floor I’ve ever seen!

Later in the reception, there was time for more modern dancing, as well as Stephanie and Joel’s first dance.

I’m thrilled that Stephanie and Joel entrusted me to be part of their big day, and helped me make sure  all aspects of my services were mindful of important traditions.  While I’m always thrilled to be the DJ for every wedding, I cherish those celebrations which expose me to new and exciting opportunities.  I can’t thank these newlyweds enough, and I wish them the best on their new lives together.

Nicole and Geoff (Wildwood Golf Club DJ)

While almost everyone I work with loves music and has their own unique preferences, it’s a special pleasure for me to get to DJ a wedding for people who are passionate about their musical tastes enough to spend time customizing the wedding music in a way to make their day fit their style.  The music at the wedding of Nicole Solano and Geoff Seaman was romantic, fun, and varied in a way that made it a great experience for them, as well as all of their friends and family.

The ceremony and reception were held in the beautiful ballroom at the Wildwood Golf Club in Allison Park, PA.  I love the bunny cake topper the newlyweds chose for their wedding cake!

Nicole and Geoff”s love for music made it great fun for me to help pull their playlist together for their ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.  The music included great choices of strings, singer-songwriters, soul, rock, and pop music.

The evening was planned perfectly, which allowed plenty of time for visiting before the Nicole and Geoff had their first dance.  Everyone should look this happy on their wedding day!

With over 3 hours to celebrate, there was time to play so much great dancing music!

At the end of the evening, all of the newlyweds’ closest friends and family formed a big circle around the happy couple as everyone danced to “Time After Time” by Cyndi Lauper (their pre-ceremony had begun with a string version of the same song).  This brought the perfect close to a fantastic day that had great musical details to make the day even more special.  I can’t say enough what a thrill it was for me to help these music lovers create a day that was as unique as they are.

Cassie and Bobby (Wyndham Grand Wedding DJ)

I simply love the fall, it’s my favorite time of year.  Clearly, so do many Pittsburghers, since so many people choose to have their wedding during this beautiful season.  Cassie Russell and Bobby Mirt used a fantastic fall color palette to give their day an elegant, yet fun appearance.  The view of Pittsburgh from the Wyndham Grand’s ballroom made the entire city match all of their great details.

This was my first time playing at the Wyndham Grand, and I was pleasantly surprised by the great view available from their ballroom.  All of the details really made the room look stunning.

Cassie and Bobby’s music choices were fun and diverse.  Tons of great dance music filled the dance floor all night long.  Some special choices from the likes of New Kids on the Block as well as The Doors made for some great cherish-able memories.

In order to keep the night moving along, the newlyweds held most of their events before dinner.  This relieved stress from the rest of the evening and gave them lots of time to visit and dance.  The timing worked perfectly, since the sun was setting as they had their first dance.

I think almost any DJ would tell you that there is no greater pleasure than a group of guests who are anxious to dance.  I’m pretty confident to say this was the best party happening anywhere in Pittsburgh.

It was such a thrill for me to see one of my favorite couples, Mitch and Nicole Paterline.  I played their wedding back in 2006 and they’ve been so sweet to refer me to so many of their friends.

A beautiful, elegant, and perfect fall wedding, followed by the biggest and wildest party ever.  Cassie and Bobby gave their guests a day that no one (including me) was ready to end.  Their fun and friendly style came through in every detail and moment of this fantastic fall celebration.

Kristi and Andor (Greek Orthodox Social Hall DJ)

One aspect of being a wedding DJ that I enjoy is the coordination and effort it takes to be certain the evening runs smoothly.  I work with each couple to make sure their reception includes all the details and events they desire.  The key is in giving the newlyweds time to visit and relax, while making sure the guests aren’t anxiously waiting for something to happen.  This weekend I was part of a fabulous wedding, which included many details that fit perfectly together to make Kristi Tamayko and Andor Dietz’s one I’ll never forget.

The reception was held at the Greek Orthodox Social Hall in Oakmont, PA.  The choice of Fall seasonal colors made the venue look beautiful and elegant.

This may have been the largest chocolate candy buffet I’ve ever seen!

Kristi and Andor’s musical choices were fun and varied.  They even allowed guests to make requests on their RSVPs, which gave me lots to choose from to keep the dance floor moving.

After the newlyweds visited with every one of their guests (they were troopers!), it was time for their romantic first dance.

Everything ran so smoothly, that there were still over two hours for their guests to jump up and celebrate!

Right before the guests headed outside for a sparkler send off, they gathered on the dance floor for a sing along to Garth Brook’s “Friends In Low Places”.  Kristi and Andor had an amazing reception, which included tons of details and special moments, but also allowed them to enjoy quality time with all of their favorite people, which truly is perfect.

Erica and John (Embassy Suites Hotel DJ)

Probably the thing I love most about being a wedding DJ is how different every celebration is, based on the preferences of the bride and groom.  I love working with people to make sure the music of the day reflects their taste and style.  I was fortunate to work with Erica King and John Fisher on their reception at the Embassy Suites Hotel, which was a celebration that was a great time for all of their friends and families.

The ballroom at the Embassy Suites was decorated beautifully, and allowed for plenty of space for all of the guests to have a marvelous time.

Erica and John chose excellent genres of music to keep everyone happy.  For the dancing portion of the night they chose a mix of mostly modern music, sprinkled with some hits from the 80’s and 90’s as well.  These high-energy selections really kept the dance floor packed all night long.

For their first dance, I was able to make a custom version of Brad Paisley’s “Then”, which more adequately matched Erica and John’s relationship.  It worked perfectly for this special moment.

When it was time for the dancing to begin, none of the guests hesitated to get up and start celebrating!

As the evening came to a close, Erica and John were surrounded by their closest friends and family as everyone danced to “The Time (Dirty Bit)” by the Black Eyed Peas.  Everyone was singing “I Had The Time of my Life” at the top of their lungs, and it was clear that they truly had.  The newlyweds gave their guests memories to last forever.
