Brandi and Tim (Teutonia Mannerchor DJ)

Have it your way.  I feel that slogan is much more appropriate when planning your wedding instead of getting lunch through the drive thru.  There are so many decisions when planning your big day, but the most important decision you can make is to choose to make things exactly how you’ve always dreamed.  Yesterday I was fortunate to DJ at the wedding of Brandi Sinclair and Timothy McClain, held at the Teutonia Mannerchor in Pittsburgh, PA. Brandi and Tim definitely chose to do things their own way, and their results were extraordinary.

Teutonia Mannerchor is a German Club located on the North Side of Pittsburgh.  While the club was beautifully decorated, I have to say my favorite touch was tucked away between two layers of the cake.

Another fun and special touch that Brandi and Tim created was to ask their guests to add sand to a special sand jar.  What a great keepsake for the newlyweds!

Brandi and Tim chose  great music, including classic crooners as well as some modern tunes.  In the spirit of the German club, there were also a number of waltzes and polkas that kept the evening moving along.

To get the dancing started, all of the guests joined in on a German Marathon March. Brandi and Tim led their guests throughout the entire room!

Brandi and Tim held their wedding celebration over the entire weekend.  They were married at Heinz Chapel on Saturday and then held their formal reception on Sunday (10-10-10).  This gave them the unique opportunity to spend quality time with all of their guests as well as having the ability to do anything and everything they could imagine.  Now these two are off for their honeymoon at a beautiful resort in Virginia.

Lindsay and Shannon (Camp Kon-O-Kwee DJ)

I just love this time of year!  With the weather in Pittsburgh, there’s always a risk of planning an outdoor wedding ceremony, but it’s great to see it turn out perfectly.  Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous for the wedding of Lindsay Orchoswki and Shannon Scott held at Camp Kon-A-Kwee in Zelienople, PA.

While not traditionally a wedding venue, Camp Kon-A-Kwee had the perfect facilities for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception.

The weather was fantastic, and being in the camp setting really created a fun vibe.  After the ceremony the guests worked their way up to the main building for cocktails.

After the reception, guests were invited to a campfire, so at every place setting were the most amazing smore’s I’ve ever seen!

Lindsay and Shannon have a tremendous love of music.  I had the best time pulling their playlist together, with so many unique choices.

My favorite part of the evening was watching Lindsay and Shannon sing and dance together.

At the end of the evening the newlyweds made their exit through a tunnel of the guests cheering.

After the party, the guests all headed over to the campfire to sit and visit.  Having the entire day (and for some, the entire weekend) held at one location really created a fun, relaxed vibe.  Lindsay and Shannon planned the perfect day for their friends and family to celebrate.  This is one wedding day that no one will soon forget!

Cathy and Steve (Highland Country Club DJ)

I’m so fortunate to be a wedding DJ in the city of Pittsburgh.  There are many wonderful locations and an incredibly rich history.  Many of my clients share my passion for the city, but never as much as Cathy Aniszewski and Steve Bolar.  Last night I had the honor to DJ their stylish interpretation of a real Pittsburgh wedding at the Highland Country Club.

For starters, their wedding colors were Black and Gold, but done so elegantly. The staff at the Country Club told me that they’ve never seen the room look better.

Throughout the Country Club there were signs and tributes to our amazing city.

After their introductions, Cathy and Steve had their first dance.  It was clear they were having a blast.

The music was varied so that all of the guests were able to enjoy the evening.  From Frank Sinatra to Black Eyed Peas… we covered everything!

I think every one of their guests made it to the dance floor.  Cathy & Steve’s friends and family were so much fun!

I loved the fact that Cathy and Steve found a way to share their love of Pittsburgh with their guests in such fun and unique ways throughout their wedding reception.  They provided so many fabulous details for their friends and family to enjoy that they will remember forever.  As real Pittsburghers, I’m sure the newlyweds will be happy to return to the Steel City after their awesome honeymoon in St Lucia.

Kala and Matthew (Embassy Suites Hotel Wedding DJ)

Scheduling the flow of a reception can be a difficult task for most people.   The challenge is to make sure that everything runs smoothly and efficiently without feeling rushed.  While it’s important to include the events that are special, no one wants to make the guests feel bored or left out.  I love to work closely with my clients to help them figure out what works best based on their needs and priorities.  This past weekend I was very excited to DJ at the wedding reception of Kala Wilhelm and Matthew Lenart at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Moon Township, PA.  The entire evening couldn’t have transpired more perfectly.

The Embassy suites really helped keep things on schedule.  The 150+ guests enjoyed cocktails in the beautiful foyer and then entered the ballroom for dinner and dancing.  There were little special touches throughout the venue that were sweet and romantic.  I loved the special chocolate strawberries on top of their wedding cake!

After the introductions, the newlyweds had their first dance.  Their connection to each other is unmistakable.

Kala and Matt made a fantastic song list for me to use throughout the evening.  They chose a wide variety of music including 80’s rock and oldies, as well as newer Top 40 hits.  The wide mix was a big hit with their friends and family.

I was thrilled to get to see Robin & Jason Scibek at the reception.  I had been the DJ at their wedding last July where I first met Kala and Matthew.  I just love these two!

One of Kala and Matthew’s concerns about their reception was making sure there would be plenty of time for dancing.  Once it was time to pick up the tempo I found out why.  Their friends and family crowded the dance floor and never left!

I continually tell my clients that time has no meaning on the wedding day.  It’s nearly impossible to predict what time each event will happen since there are so many factors happening.  The stars simply aligned for Kala and Matthew this weekend as everything occurred exactly as planned.  There were tons of time for dancing.  Even after FOUR ‘one more song’ requests, the guests left wanting even just a little more.  Kala and Matt created an evening that was simply perfect both for them and all of their guests.  I couldn’t be happier for them!

Claire and Christian (Smithton Wedding Reception)

I am so fortunate to play for a wide variety of wonderfully diverse and unique people.  My absolute favorites are those who understand how to make their wedding day a true reflection of who they are.  For me, it doesn’t matter as much what style of music you enjoy, or what type of venue you choose, as long as those choices match up with who you are.  This makes it so that you and your guests feel completely comfortable during the big day.  You are able to simply be yourself while enjoying one of the most special moments of your life.  I was given a perfect example of this when was the DJ for the reception of Claire Allison and Christian Miedel at a private residence in Smithton, PA.

The reception was held at the Miedel’s property in a beautiful outdoor tent.  The scenery was beautiful and the accommodations were perfect.

Claire and Christian’s main focus was keeping everyone happy and dancing all evening long.  They provided a few key song choices for themselves, but then let the guests dictate what they would enjoy.  This kept people dancing, laughing, singing long into the evening.

The couple’s first dance was so simple and sweet, I love how they fit together so perfectly.

During the dancing, everyone literally pounded the floor to Toto’s “Africa”.  This definitely ranks as one of my favorite moments of all time.

Sometimes it can be awkward for guests to dance outside when it’s still daylight.  I believe that because of the relaxed and joyous environment that Claire and Christian created, everyone immediately jumped up to celebrate.

Claire and Christian were simply beaming all day and night,  even when the rain came down, they were out dancing in it!  They never lost sight of who they were and what was important, and at the end of the day, that is what made their day so extraordinary.

Rachel and Daniel (Pittsburgh Center for the Arts)

One of the hardest parts of choosing your reception music is deciding how to include the songs you love most along with those that your friends and family will enjoy.  One of the great joys for me is working with people who take everyone’s preferences into account and find ways to please as many people as possible.  I was lucky enough to work with some wonderful and wise people this weekend at the reception of Rachel Orler and Daniel Reid at the Pittsburgh Center For The Arts in Shadyside, PA.

Rachel and Dan found great ways to include their favorite music throughout the night, but also included a lot of music that they knew their guests would enjoy.  They used so many fun choices for everything including their entrance, cake cutting and even the parent dances.  The music was a terrific variety that appealed to every generation and the result was a dance floor that never emptied.

Pittsburgh Center for the Arts is a top notch venue.  The staff shows great attention to every detail, and the atmosphere is unique and elegant.  Dinner was held on the big patio before everyone came back inside for dancing.  Dan and Rachel’s colors were a beautiful mix of green and brown.  (My personal favorite.)

There was a special frame at the entrance where guests could fill out a ‘leaf’ and place it on a tree.  The result is a great keepsake that I’m sure will always have a special place in the Reid home.

The moment the dancing started Rachel and Dan kept the energy up and all of the guests danced the night away.

I had a lot of fun working with Rachel and Dan on the details of their special day.  They are such genuine and giving people who were anxious to share their excitement and love with all their guests.  Their positive energy is undeniable and was completely infectious.   I don’t think their guests had any choice but to have the time of the lives.
