Janette and Chris (Green Gables Wedding DJ)

Most of the weddings I play are located in downtown Pittsburgh, or in the surrounding communities, but every once in a while I get to travel a little further away from home to be a part of a couple’s special day.  I find that even though these trips require a little more time and coordination, it typically turns out to be something special and unique that makes the trip worth while.  That was certainly the case at Janette Ogline and Chris Scott’s ceremony and reception held at Green Gables in Jennerstown, PA .

Green Gables is located a little over 90 minutes from Pittsburgh, but once I arrived there it was clear why Janette and Chris chose this beautiful venue for their celebration.

I was able to provide music for the ceremony held on the patio.  It was a crisp fall day, which made for a beautiful backdrop as the couple exchanged their vows.

Janette, Chris and I talked a lot about the music for their big day.  They made sure to include a wide selection that would please their guests throughout the day.

After a relaxing cocktail hour and dinner, the newlyweds had their first dance as husband and wife.

Janette and Chris had planned an intimate reception for themselves and about 75 of their closest friends and family.  The relaxed pace of the day allowed for lots of time for everyone to visit, dance, and celebrate.

As midnight approached, the newlyweds held their last dance along with their closest of friends.  Janette and Chris had found the perfect location which suited their needs as well as their style.  I’m so glad they invited me to be part of this unique and beautiful day.

Jaime and Matt (Carnegie Museum Wedding DJ)

Often when I meet with prospective clients for my DJ service, they’ll ask just how much the music for their wedding reception can be customized.  I always assure them, that if they choose, they could pick 100% of the music to make their day exactly as they wish.  By the time the wedding rolls around, some couples have chosen only a few selections, but there are instances where I get to work with couples who are passionate enough about their music choices to supply me with all the songs I’ll need to make the day a total success.  This weekend at the Carnegie Museum, I was able to help Jaime Azzara and Matt Lagoy put together an amazing, romantic, energetic and unique playlist for their beautiful Pittsburgh reception.

The Carnegie Museum is one of my absolute favorite Pittsburgh reception venues.  The beautiful marble in the Music Hall foyer is always stunning.

Matt and Jaime worked extremely hard on choosing music that not only reflected their taste and style, but also was guaranteed to get everyone up and dancing.  I created quite a few custom mixes for the occasion, so we were sure to be able to fit in all the songs that the newlyweds wanted to hear.

As the guests watched from the balcony of the museum, Jaime and Matt had their first dance together.

After dinner, we wasted no time getting the dance floor going, and the celebration began!

As a wedding dj, it’s fun for me to work with a couple as passionate about music as I am.  I’m thrilled they put their faith in me to make sure everything went as they had planned.  I want to send big thanks and good wishes to the newlyweds as they leave for their Hawaiian honeymoon.

Alyson and Michael (Renaissance Pittsburgh DJ)

I love to be organized. I take my role as wedding DJ seriously and know it’s my responsibility to assist in making the wishes of each bride and groom become reality. My job is always fun, but I get the chance to enjoy myself even more when I work with couples who have the same approach to their reception. Because of their organization and attnention to details, I had a fantastic evening DJ’ing for Alyson Rotz and Michael Joyce at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh.

I could talk forever about what a great venue the Renaissance Hotel makes for a fantastic reception.  The view of Pittsburgh is amazing, and of course, Alyson and Michael had arranged to decorate the ballroom in a beautiful and elegant fashion.

I worked with the newlyweds to create a playlist that would not only suit their style, but was sure to keep everyone happy all night long.  Alyson’s father included some fun requests to kick off the celebration, which included Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”!

Alyson and Michael’s first dance was choreographed to Keith Urban’s “Without You”.  They did such a great job!

From their wild excitement during the grand entrance, I knew this was going to be a wild night.  Alyson and Michael’s guests jumped up and crowded the dance floor.

All of the guests joined Alyson and Michael on the dance floor for their last dance.  As they leave for their honeymoon in Aruba, they can relax knowing that their hard work and planning had resulted in the perfect celebration.

Erin & Andy (Mayernik Center Wedding DJ)

Another DJ told me once that he felt all receptions were the same.  Clearly I couldn’t disagree with this statement more, and as evidence of this I can present hundreds of examples.  At the top of the list would be the reception of Erin McNeilly and Andy Voltz at the Mayernik Center outside of Pittsburgh, PA.

The Mayernik Center is located at Avonworth Community Park, and is a beautiful log cabin style venue.  This made for a beautiful setting for Erin & Andy’s special day.

Erin and Andy have fun and varied musical tastes.  This was great fun for me, since I had the opportunity to play songs that aren’t typically part of every reception.  It was great seeing the newlyweds and their friends light up as their favorite songs would start playing.

One of my favorite moments of every reception is the couple’s first dance.  I loved seeing Erin & Andy have a few quiet moments just to themselves.

Of course, every great reception has great dancing.

It was such a pleasure to be part of this special day, since there truly will be no other evening quite like it.  Erin and Andy’s reception perfectly suited their tastes and style, and was a unique and elegant night for all of their friends and family.  The newlyweds headed off to Hawaii to begin the next special chapter in their lives together.

Kerri & Ty (Hilton Garden Inn DJ)

I just love when people throw creative flair into the the details that decorate their reception venue.  This Saturday at the Hilton Garden Inn, there were many signs of Kerri DiGiovanni’s and Ty Lacock’s knack for creativity.

The first thing that caught most people’s attention were the signs that were featured at the bar, the cookie table, and everywhere.

Of course, Kerry and Ty were creative with their music selections as well.  During dinner they chose to mix in songs that had been the first dances for various family members’ weddings.  For dancing, they included a great mix of requests that were the perfect choices for their guests.

The newlyweds had their first dance to Roberta Flack’s “The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face”.  Such a quiet and romantic moment to kick off what would be the perfect evening.

After plenty of time for the guests to enjoy dinner, cake, the photobooth and an insane amount of cookies… it was time to start the celebration!

Kerri and Ty included tons of special touches for their reception that transformed this ballroom to match their style.  At the end of this elegant and stylish evening, the dance floor was still crowded with their guests chanting and clapping for the newlyweds as they headed off to start their new lives together.

Erica and John (Embassy Suites Hotel DJ)

Probably the thing I love most about being a wedding DJ is how different every celebration is, based on the preferences of the bride and groom.  I love working with people to make sure the music of the day reflects their taste and style.  I was fortunate to work with Erica King and John Fisher on their reception at the Embassy Suites Hotel, which was a celebration that was a great time for all of their friends and families.

The ballroom at the Embassy Suites was decorated beautifully, and allowed for plenty of space for all of the guests to have a marvelous time.

Erica and John chose excellent genres of music to keep everyone happy.  For the dancing portion of the night they chose a mix of mostly modern music, sprinkled with some hits from the 80’s and 90’s as well.  These high-energy selections really kept the dance floor packed all night long.

For their first dance, I was able to make a custom version of Brad Paisley’s “Then”, which more adequately matched Erica and John’s relationship.  It worked perfectly for this special moment.

When it was time for the dancing to begin, none of the guests hesitated to get up and start celebrating!

As the evening came to a close, Erica and John were surrounded by their closest friends and family as everyone danced to “The Time (Dirty Bit)” by the Black Eyed Peas.  Everyone was singing “I Had The Time of my Life” at the top of their lungs, and it was clear that they truly had.  The newlyweds gave their guests memories to last forever.
