Jordan and Michael (Shady Elms Farm DJ)

A little creativity can go a long way.  A lot of creativity can help create a wedding day that is guaranteed to be like no other.  Everywhere you looked at the celebration of Jordan Spindler and Michael Gehlmann there were special, unique, and extremely creative touches.  They poured themselves into making their special day at Shady Elms Farm one that truly reflected their style. Spinder Gehlmann Wedding Custom made signs from old window panes, jars of homemade jam as favors, and a separate barn just for cookies all helped set the stage for a once-in-a-lifetime occasion. Shady Elms Farm Wedding DJJordan and Michael left the music open to be certain their guests would be up and dancing throughout the evening.  The perfectly planned day allowed for an amazing amount of time for dancing and getting crazy.  Take a moment to look over their crazy fun (and super long) dancing playlist to see just what a great time was had by everyone.

After a relaxing time of visiting and eating, the newlyweds kicked things off with their first dance to Van Morrison’s “Crazy Love”. Shady Elms Farm Wedding DJShady Elms Farm Wedding DJ Jordan’s cousin, Scott, started the dancing portion of the night with an excellent performance of “Wagon Wheel”.  It really got things going for a fun and upbeat party.

Towards the end of the night, most of their guests were enjoying the amazing time that Jordan and Michael had prepared for them.  Their hard work had paid off in a wedding and reception that had shown their friends and family how special it was to have them as part of their happiest day.

Chelsey and Patrick (Marriott City Center DJ)

Elegance is a difficult word to describe, but you certainly know it when you see it.  This past weekend I was fortunate to be the DJ for the wedding of Chelsey Miller and Patrick McKenney at the Marriott City Center in downtown Pittsburgh, and everything about this perfect evening reflected a sense of simple elegance and grace.

In a year when people are adding lots of trendy additions to their wedding day, Chelsey and Patrick decorated the ballroom gorgeously with striking colors and wonderful little gift boxes (with little chocolate strawberries inside) at each table setting.

The newlyweds had planned ahead for an evening that would keep their guests’ attention.  They staggered many of their events such as cake cutting, first dance and toasts throughout the meal service.  This really kept the flow of the night moving and led perfectly up to the celebration and partying.  Be sure to take a look at their playlist and see how perfectly timed everything was.

The couple’s first dance was sweet and classic.

The Marriott City Center has an extremely large dance floor, which was perfect for this very excited party crowd!

In the midst of the celebration, a Michael Jackson dance-off broke out…all three of these guys were amazing!

No one, including myself, was ready to see this evening come to an end, so we kept the music going strong until the Marriott was ready to throw us all out.  Their evening had been the perfect mix of simple elegance and amazingly wild celebration.  This awesome couple is now off on their Hawaiian honeymoon for some well-deserved relaxation.

Emily and Matt (Alpine Room, SNPJ DJ)

With all the things to coordinate for the wedding day, will you remember to have fun?  It’s so easy to get caught up in the stress, but it’s important to take time and relax, be goofy and just embrace the good times.  At the reception of Emily Oswald and Matthew Milbert, there was plenty of fun to be had.  This happy and relaxed couple was sure to enjoy every moment of their celebration at the Apline Room in the SNPJ.

Their guests had a great laugh when they saw this unique fishing themed groom’s cake.

Emily and Matt had a good time selecting music for their big day as well.  They came up with a fun 90’s oriented dinner playlist which set a great upbeat tone for the evening.

Amongst all this fun, of course, there were sweet moments as well…

With the formal festivities out of the way, all of their guests were able to join in the celebration.  What an awesome party!

As the last song began to play, Emily and Matt were smiling, laughing, and surrounded by their closest friends and family members.  All the planning they had done allowed them to relax and truly enjoy every moment of their big day.  Their next stop was the special after-party bonfire, then in the morning, the newlyweds were off to enjoy their tropical honeymoon.

Melanie and Alan (Lingrow Farm DJ)

While most people will describe their ideal wedding day as elegant, romantic, and fun, many overlook how to make their day memorable.  Special touches, and the ability to deal with the unexpected, certainly helped Melanie Boretsky and Alan Young have a wedding day like no other, and one I am sure will be discussed for years to come.

Their choice to get married and have their reception at Lingrow Farm was a great choice for a day no one would forget.  As their ceremony began, the perfect skies and beautiful scenery made for the ideal setting.  When the weather changed suddenly to a down pour, everyone made a quick dash to the barn to finish the nuptials.  All the guests cheered and celebrated as Alan carried his wife to shelter.

Another truly memorable part of the evening was when Alan’s twin brother and best man gave one of the best Powerpoint/Toasts I’ve ever heard.

Of course, music is always a great way to make the day special.  They had planned for plenty of time to dance and celebrate, so it was great getting to fill so many requests from their friends and family.

I love when couples have practiced their first dance.  Melanie and Alan are fantastic dancers, and theirs could not have been more perfect.

This amazing evening also included a photo booth, fireworks, a bonfire, and lots of opportunities for some wild and hilarious dancing.

All night long I overheard many of the guests already reliving stories about the events of the day.  With so many fantastic moments for them to cherish, Melanie and Alan’s wedding day was truly unforgettable.

Beth and Steve (Shannopin Country Club)

Every couple faces bumps on the way from engagement to “I Do”.  The big question is, how will you deal with these obstacles? No one would ever know that Beth Buresh and Steve Panicucci had any problems at all when planning their perfect wedding celebration at the Shannopin Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA.  They didn’t let anything stand in their way from enjoying every moment of their special day.

Shannopin Country Club might not have been Beth and Steve’s first choice in venue, but I have to say, I believe the great atmosphere and their courteous staff made for an excellent location to begin their new lives together.

One of the many things I enjoyed about working with Beth and Steve was the fact that they chose a select few songs that gave their evening a fun, yet elegant tone.  Selections ranged from classical strings to Carly Rae Jepsen.

Once dinner was completed, the newlyweds enjoyed their first dance to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight”.

Beth and Steve planned their night perfectly so there was plenty of time for their guests to get up and join the fun to a wide variety of great dance songs.

One of my favorite moments was when everyone crowded the dance floor to a special song that Steve and a friend had created themselves.

Then, all of Beth’s sorority sisters gathered around to serenade her with “Eye of the Tiger”!

One of the hardest things about wedding planning is keeping focus on what really matters about the entire day. Beth and Steve’s priorities were to give their friends and families a memorable night as they all gathered together on their big day. I’m sure they can’t imagine it turning out any other way.

Alexandra and Ryan (Phipps Conservatory DJ)

One of the first questions every newly engaged couple is faced with is determining how many guests should they invite to the wedding.  While many immediately think of how much fun the reception would be with 200-300 people, they miss out on how special the day can be with a smaller, more intimate group.  Alexandra Cervenka and Ryan Slack might not have had the largest guest list in Pittsburgh, but their celebration at the Phipps Conservatory Garden Tent was huge.

Phipps Conservatory made the perfect venue on this beautiful summer day.  They arranged and decorated the large tent in a way that made it feel the perfect size for their 65 guests.

When it came to music, Lexie and Ryan chose some special selections for the evening but wanted to leave lots of room for people to make requests and have fun.  Their playlist incorporated everything from jazz, motown, disco, rock and a few top 40 hits too.

After cocktail hour, the bride and groom entered the Garden Tent and began their first dance to Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together”.

Once it was time, the guests took advantage of every moment we had to celebrate.

I had first met Lexie and Ryan a couple of years ago at the reception of Lisa and Armando Padilla (where they had caught the bouquet and garter!).

Phipps employees commented to me on what a fun group this was and how the dance floor was packed all night.

As a special twist at the end of the night, the newlyweds presented their guests with a fantastic popcorn and italian soda buffet.  Everyone then jumped on a shuttle bus to head downtown and see the post Pirates game fireworks display!  What appeared to be what some would call a small wedding, ended as one the largest celebrations anyone had ever seen.
