Samantha and Gregory (Anchor Village Wedding DJ)

Surprises on your wedding day can go either way.  Some couples love the idea, while others want to avoid any type of unplanned event happening during their big day.  Samantha and Greg planned a little surprise of their own, which turned out perfectly, for their wonderful celebration held at Anchor Village in Shippenville, PA.

Samantha wanted to surprise her father with a special song for their dance, so she had instructed me to play that song no matter what her dad would request.  Turns out when her father called me, he chose the exact same song Sam had chosen special for him (Bruce Springsteen’s “When I Need You”).  Clearly these two both were thinking on the same page, and the shock on her dad’s face when he found out was completely priceless!

One thing that wasn’t a surprise was how much fun all of the newlyweds’ friends and family had that night.  Dance music lasted for well over 3 hours as everyone made room to dance, sing and celebrate!  The happy couple are now off to Mexico for a romantic and relaxing honeymoon.

Kacie and Trevor (Embassy Suites Hotel Wedding DJ)

A big challenge for couples can be trying to figure out how to get as many of their guests to stay at the reception for as long as possible.  As a DJ, I try to make sure I play a wide variety of music to make sure all the guests enjoy the evening and stick around to dance and celebrate.  Kacie and Trevor included some extra special events ] to keep many of their guests involved til the very end at their reception at the Embassy Suites in Moon Township.

Their wedding reception had so many special touches that reflected the couple’s styles and hobbies, but the most popular had to be the Euchre tournament which ran throughout the evening.  Guests battled it out for a chance to play against the newlyweds.  Kacie and Trevor had also included some subtle details at the reception, my favorite would be the special flowers in the bouquets that were made from the pages of a Harry Potter book!

I love couples who spend the time finding ways to share parts of themselves with their guests, but I don’t know if I’ve ever had the chance to work with a couple with such unique and inventive ideas.  Their friends and family were treated to a celebration like no other!

Meghan and Carl (South Hills Country Club Wedding DJ)

There’s something special about Fall weddings in Pittsburgh.  It’s such a beautiful time of year to get married with such rich colors and, in most cases, fantastic weather.  Meghan and Carl embraced all that was wonderful about this time of year for their fun-filled reception held at the South Hills County Club in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Country Club was decked out with perfect decorations for Fall.  I was able to help add to the decor by providing uplighting in orange, red, yellow and, later in the night, some purple colors.  My favorite touch was the table seating cards, which were actually tiny pumpkins!

Meghan and Carl, as well as their guests, crowded the dance floor all night long.  They were such a fun group that really enjoyed dancing to a fantastic variety of music from the 50’s until today.  They especially enjoyed some great 80’s and 90’s hits that I haven’t gotten to play in a long time.  The newlyweds are now headed off to Punta Cana for a well-deserved honeymoon.

Catherine and Aaron (Slippery Rock University Wedding)

I’ve worked with some amazingly fun and creative couples over my DJ career.  I believe a new standard has been set for creativity at the reception of Catherine and Aaron.  Their fall wedding was held at their Alma Mater, Slippery Rock University, in the ballroom at the Robert M. Smith Student Center.

I was truly impressed by the fantastic decor and favors that Catherine and Aaron chose for the reception.  My favorite had to be the customized sunglasses!  I was able to provide a monogram and uplighting for the ballroom.

The newlyweds’ guests knew they were in for a fun evening as the couple kicked off the party with an awesome first dance!  I helped them create a great mix that ended with some fun choreography to Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance”!  When it was time, all of their family and friends did just that.  The dance floor was the place to be for almost 4 hours!

I had a blast working with Catherine and Aaron, and was completely thrilled to be part of their celebration.  This hard working couple is now off to relax and enjoy some alone time on their romantic Jamaican honeymoon.

Kate and Ryan (Phipps Conservatory Wedding DJ)

Pittsburgh offers so many wonderful wedding venues, choosing the right one for your big day can be a difficult choice.  Finding the right size, style and atmosphere is so important to the success of every wedding.  Kate and Ryan could not have picked a better location than Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

It was a perfect Fall day as they were married on the beautiful patio area outside of the Tropical Garden at Phipps.  After cocktails, guests entered the ballroom for dinner and dancing.

The entire day flowed perfectly for the happy couple.  Guests were not only able to enjoy some fun dancing, but were also able to enjoy the beautiful evening outside on the patio.  Their friends and family were treated to a wonderful night as they came together to celebrate with the newlyweds.  Congratulations Kate and Ryan, I’m so thrilled I was able to be a part of all the fun!

Jill and Dan (Fairmont Hotel Wedding DJ)

I talk a lot on this blog about how great it is when a couple knows what they want to make their wedding day special.  For some, it’s fantastic food, or a great venue.  For others, it’s the perfect mix of music, or the right style of lighting.  Somehow Jill and Dan were able to nail all four of these elements for their elegant and fun wedding at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, PA.

Jill and Dan made excellent choices for both their uplighting and monogram.  The ballroom at the Fairmont looked incredible during both dinner and dancing.

The newlyweds made some wonderful and unique song choices, which truly matched both their style as well as those of their friends and family.  Guests were even singing along during dinner!  The end of the evening came way too quickly, but it was so fun that we squeezed in a few more songs before the lights came up.  Jill and Dan, along with their families’ help, put together a great celebration, the memories of which they will cherish forever.
