Christina and Alex (Chartiers Country Club)

I’m a firm believer that planning music for a reception should be nothing but fun.  There’s plenty of work to do to prepare for the wedding day, but thinking about the music you’ll enjoy at the celebration should be a great time.  Christina and Alex did an amazing job with the music they chose for their special day at the  Chartiers Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA

Christina and Alex even let their family help in the music selections, and the parents of the bride provided some great selections for dinner and dancing.  I was able to provide uplighting for the ceiling in the ballroom, which made the whole room look even more amazing.

The guests at the reception were fantastic.  They came to celebrate with the happy couple, and when dancing began everyone joined in the party.  The songs varied from Motown to 70’s and some newer hits too, so no one was left out.  As the last song came to an end, friends and family of all ages were there to cheer!  Christina and Alex are off to a fun filled honeymoon where they’ ll enjoy the great outdoors in Arizona.

Lindsay and Roy (Carnegie Museum)

Weddings are hard work.  It’d be easy to use up all your energy just planning for such an important day.  Lindsay and Roy didn’t have any problem keeping their excitement going throughout their elegant celebration at Carnegie Museum’s Hall of Sculpture in Oakland.  From their first dance all the way to the last song, they made sure to enjoy every moment to its fullest.

The newlyweds had arranged to give their guests a wonderful wedding experience.  Everything started with a beautiful ceremony at Heinz Chapel, which was immediately followed by cocktails on the Grand Staircase at the Carnegie.  When guests moved to the Hall of Sculpture, everyone was commenting on how spectacular everything looked.  The entire evening flowed smoothly and efficiently so that when the dance floor opened, people were ready to join in the fun.

You can see some of the beautiful decor and the rest of the party in this video.

Lindsay and Roy were smart to spend both cocktail hour and dinner time visiting with their guests, which allowed them lots of opportunities to dance.  I was blown away by how tirelessly they were able to keep moving all night long.   After an amazing amount of planning and celebrating, these two were finally ready to enjoy their well deserved honeymoon in Maldives.

Nina and Carl (Airport Hyatt Regency)

As a DJ, music plays a huge part of my life.  One of my great thrills is working with people who are as passionate about music as I am.  Nina and Carl’s wedding reception at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh Airport was one filled with a spectacular soundtrack and a few surprises.

Guests were treated to a full musical theatre theme reception that included curtains, lights, popcorn, dancing and even a beautiful live performance by Nina and a talented group of friends and family.

Nina and Carl’s celebration was like no other.  They created an evening that perfectly suited their own and their guests’ passions.  While the venue was grand and elegant, the atmosphere was relaxed and jovial.  It was the perfect celebration before the newlyweds headed off for their honeymoon in Puerto Rico.

Kayla and Michael (Westwood Golf Club)

After so many years of DJing weddings here in Pittsburgh, I assumed I had seen every combination of wedding colors and decorations.  Kayla and Michael proved me wrong in the most amazing way by using 5 vibrant and stunning colors for their celebration at the Westwood Golf Club in West Mifflin, PA.

The ballroom was decked out with purple, blue, green, yellow and red elements, all of which matched the sashes and vest on the bridal party.  I was so happy that they asked me to provide uplighting which changed colors every few minutes throughout the evening.  The combination of colors and decorations were beautiful and something I’m sure no one will ever forget!

My favorite moment of the reception was when Kayla surprised Michael during their first dance with a special song she had recorded just for him.  All of the guests were treated to a great mix of music as everyone danced and sang throughout the night.  I had the best time working with Kayla and Michael on their magical wedding reception.  They are now off what I’m sure will be a beautiful (and colorful) honeymoon!

Sarah and Matt (Twelve Oaks Mansion)

It’s fun when couples include special touches or details into the decorations at their reception.  I was excited to learn that Sarah and Matt got engaged at Disney World.  I was even more excited that they included a few Disney details at their elegant wedding celebration at Twelve Oaks Mansion in Mars, PA.

Twelve Oaks Mansion is one of my favorite places to do uplighting, it looked amazing in both light orange (dinner), and blue (dancing).

Sarah and Matt’s “Guest Book” was actually magnetic stars for guests to write wishes to the newlyweds.  My favorite detail was their Mickey and Minnie cake topper!  So cool.

I had been told that the wedding guests would be excited to dance, and they definitely came to celebrate.  Thankfully they had already chosen to extend the evening since we needed every minute to keep the party going.  When the night came to an end, guests still didn’t want to leave.  I’m confident that Sarah and Matt truly will have a Happily Ever After.
